We've adopted a highway!
The Great Southern Publishers team has volunteered to help preserve Coastal Georgia's natural beauty by adopting a piece of highway on St. Simons Island in front of St. Simons Health & Fitness Center. The team will meet on weekends once each quarter to pick up litter along this road to help maintain St. Simons Island's beautiful appearance.
We had our first cleanup about a month ago when we participated in Keep Brunswick and the Golden Isles Beautiful's annual "Fall Clean-Up." Of course, we had to go get a late breakfast afterwards to celebrate.
Our staff also collected recyclables for this event. We collected newspapers, magazines and plastic from home and all our recyclable paper from the office for two months and dropped it off for the Recycle Glynn! School's Contest.
It was fun to see everyone out together participating in an event that is for the good of the community. We will be organizing our next cleanup after the holidays.
